Marzipan Feast turns every Sinterklaas party into a real ... feast!!!! This wonderfully spicy blend of black tea and almond tastes great and goes well with other classics such as pepernoten, speculaas and naturally marzipan.
Put Marzipan Feast on your wish list quickly and who knows, you might find this spicy surprise in your shoe.
Please note: this tea contains traces of nuts.
This is a seasonal tea and is unfortunately not available all year round.
Marzipan Festijn is a powerful black tea to which almonds have been added. There is actually real marzipan in this tea! The sweet smell and taste of Marzipan Festijn are therefore strongly reminiscent of marzipan.
The longer you brew the tea, the more almond notes emerge.
To make marzipan, ground almonds are mixed with sugar. This creates a kind of almond dough. Marzipan is often used to make candies or to decorate pastries and cakes. It contains more sugar and less almonds than almond paste. The structure of marzipan is finer than almond paste.
Marzipan has its origin in the Far East and came to Europe in the Middle Ages. It became popular in the Netherlands in the seventeenth century. Sint-Nicolaas or Sinterklaas was then not only a friend of children but also a 'marriage broker'. Sinterklaas was the patron saint of children, unmarried women and lovers. On December 6, the name day of Saint Nicholas, boys could declare their love to a girl by giving a piece of marzipan, similar to sending a Valentine's card now.
Marzipan Festijn is a black tea blend.
To make a cup of Marzipan Festijn, you use about 2 grams of tea. This is a 'heaped' tea spoon. Would you like to make a pot of Marzipan Festijn tea? Then use 10 grams of tea. Then let Marzipan Festijn steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
Marzipan Feast is a black tea and therefore contains caffeine. If you are sensitive to caffeine, we recommend not consuming this tea before going to sleep.
If you want to avoid caffeine, tea shop 'Het Kleinste Huis' also offers a caffeine-free alternative. Two delicious Sinterklaas tea blends are available in our tea shop in Amsterdam and here in the webshop, Pepernoten Parody and Marzipan Blend.

Did you know that tea can also be wonderfully combined with savory foods?
I put it to the test with a delicious piece of old Cantal cheese, brought from the beautiful Auvergne in France. Cantal cheese has a strong taste. Spicy, slightly salty and with full tones in which a creamy, almost vanilla-like hint can be detected. Curious how it tastes in combination with an Oolong from Tanzania?
I know, the real wine purists will find what I'm about to describe a sacrilege... Chardonnay with a purple hue.
A nice summer twist on this white wine. All you need is a few blue ice cubes and Chardonnay. Your friends will be impressed. Curious how to make Chardonnay Violet? Then read on..
Currently one of my favorite tea drinks this summer... Chilled Matcha Latte! Matcha helps to boost your energy and concentration, while also giving you a sense of calm and clarity.
Quick to make and healthy too! Read more about how you can easily make a Chilled Matcha Latte at home.
Do you want to prepare loose leaf tea at home?
That's very simple! To make loose leaf tea you only need a few basic elements. Tea leaves, hot water and something to put your tea in.
However, there are a few things that need some extra attention, such as the temperature of the water and the brewing time of the tea. We've listed it all here for you!
Last week one of our nicest customers, Chloe, came by for a pleasant conversation at our tea table.
Chloe started a podcast last year where she interviews people who play a role in her life. Today it was my turn and I was allowed to elaborate for more than half an hour about one of my great passions ... tea. Follow our conversation on Spotify!
I think every parent encounters this at some point. Isn't there a better alternative to lemonade or fruit juice for your kids? Even the healthy drinks are often still full of sugars and artificial additives. Tasty, but not really healthy. Offering only water is not always an option either. As a mother of two young daughters, I was always faced with this dilemma. Fortunately, as the owner of a tea shop, the solution was close at hand!
