Turmeric, or curcuma or koenir, is a spice that is extracted from the root of the Curcuma Longa. This plant belongs to the ginger family.
Turmeric is widely used in Chinese and Indian cuisine and is not only a very popular spice, but also a popular superfood. The beneficial active ingredient in turmeric is curcumin which has anti-inflammatory properties and acts as an antioxidant.
The flavour of turmeric can be described as somewhat bitter, with a slightly peppery character and a hint of orange.
In addition to turmeric, this Turmeric Mix also contains a variety of other ingredients:
- apple, ginger, cinnamon, almonds, anise, emergency nutmeg and cloves.
