Jasmine, meaning 'gift from god', is a genus of the olive family. After the jasmine blossom has been picked, it is first placed on damp cloths and then on the green tea. In this way, the aroma of the jasmine absorbs into the tea. After an hour, the jasmine no longer has the aroma and the process can be repeated. For the more expensive jasmine teas, this can be done up to 7 times.
