This green Japanese tea is picked during the summer and fall. The Bancha is highly valued in Japan for its smooth taste.
Bancha is harvested from the same tea plant as Sencha. Only this happens later in the year, between summer and autumn. This makes the leaves larger and more mature. Literally translated, Bancha means 'coarse tea'. Unlike the Sencha, this tea is lightly roasted. This gives the Bancha a slightly nutty taste.
This tea can be drunk all day and is highly appreciated by both beginners and advanced tea drinkers.
