From Amsterdam Earl Gray to Lemon Verbena: A Tea Tasting to Remember

By Niels
Introduction
It's not every day you get the chance to be a part of an event as grand and inspiring as the 'Leadership Summit 2023'. Organized by publisher Wolters Kluwers, a name synonymous with innovation and leadership, this conference a meeting for its 190 top executives from around the world. And we, at our humble tea shop, were honored to provide a unique tea experience to this special group of people.

Our role was simple, yet challenging: to organize a tea tasting in one of the congress halls of the beautiful Okura hotel in Amsterdam.
With ten different teas to see, smell and taste, our task was to offer the participants a journey through the world of tea. From our own House blend to Jasmine tea, Kir Royal and Amsterdam Earl Grey, each tea was carefully selected and presented in a beautiful round black tin, with its own label and, in front of it, a bowl with the tea displayed.
As a thank you, the participants received a goodie bag with tea of their choice, a tea bag, tea tongs and a teaspoon. It was an opportunity for us to share our passion for tea with an audience as diverse as the teas we served.
De Conference
The 'Leadership Summit 2023', co-organized by Puur* Events, from Wolters Kluwers, was a special meeting. Wolters Kluwers, a leading publishing company, invited 190 of its top executives to participate in this conference. The participants, from all over the world, gathered at the Okura hotel for three days to learn, network and exchange ideas.

While the summer sun was burning mercilessly outside, with temperatures well above 30 degrees, the atmosphere inside the conference hall of the Okura hotel was strikingly different. Thanks to the excellent climate control, the room was an oasis of coolness, a welcome escape from the heat outside.
"The venue, the Okura hotel, provided a fitting backdrop for the event. With its modern facilities and elegant ambience, the hotel was an ideal place for the managers to focus on the content of the conference, while also enjoying the hospitality and the comfortable environment."
Our Tea Tasting
In the reception hall of the Okura hotel we had created a special place for our tea tasting. Ten different teas were carefully displayed, each packaged in our stylish black round tins with its own label. A small bowl of the loose leaf tea was placed in front of each can so that participants could appreciate the colour, texture and aroma of each variety before tasting it.

Our selection ranged from classics such as our house blend and Amsterdam Earl Gray to more exotic options such as jasmine tea and kir royal. We also had a number of surprises in store, such as the Lemon Verbena (a summer tea with excellent!), which later turned out to be a big hit.
The participants could not only taste the teas, but also learn about their origin, their unique properties and the best way to prepare them. Our team was there to answer questions and provide more information about each tea.
"Lemon Verbena is not only a pleasure to drink, but also a true taste sensation that takes you on a tasty journey through the world of citrus fruits and delicious herbs."
The Favorites
Among the ten carefully selected teas we presented, there were some that made the participants' hearts beat faster. The Lemon Verbena, with its invigorating fruity and sweet citrus notes, was a clear favourite.

Lemon Verbena, or vervain, is a herbal blend that strikes a perfect balance between invigorating citrus and calming herbs. It is an ideal choice for both relaxing and invigorating tea moments. The participants were particularly charmed by the light, lemony taste and subtle aroma of this tea. It was a pleasure to see how the participants discovered and appreciated the complexity and nuances of this special tea.
Lemon Verbena is not only a pleasure to drink, but also a true taste sensation that takes you on a tasty journey through the world of citrus fruits and delicious herbs. It is a special blend to relax and enjoy the rich flavors that come together in a beautiful interplay. Whether you want to start your day full of energy with this invigorating blend, or treat yourself with a cup of Lemon Verbena tea after a long day, this tea is always a good choice.

The Other Partners
Our tea tasting was only part of the experience we offered the conference participants. We were lucky enough to work with two fantastic partners who each contributed in their own way to the success of the event: Puccini Bomboni and Reflower.
Puccini Bomboni, the best chocolatier in Amsterdam, had a selection of seven different kinds of bonbons for the participants to taste. Each bonbon was a work of art in itself, with a unique combination of flavors that paired perfectly with our teas. The participants also received a box of chocolates to take home, a sweet reminder of the experience.
In addition, there was Reflower, makers of artificial flower bouquets. They offered the participants the opportunity to decorate a bicycle with artificial flowers, a fun and creative activity that was sure to bring some smiling faces.
"Our tea tastings are not only an opportunity to taste different teas, but also to learn more about the world of tea."
Conclusion
As the 2023 Leadership Summit drew to a close, we felt a certain amount of gratitude and satisfaction. It was an unforgettable experience to share our passion for tea with the top executives of Wolters Kluwers, a leading publishing company who gave us the opportunity to be a part of this prestigious event.

We would like to thank Wolters Kluwers and Puur* Events for trusting us and for the opportunity to present our teas to this group of special people.
