This black tea comes from the region of East Sikkim, North India, north of Darjeerling, located in the Himalayas. The tea contains many tips (youngest tea leaf) and has a floral and sweet taste.
The Temi garden is the only tea garden in Sikkim and is known as one of the best tea gardens in India. Located on Tendong ridge, the tea grows in a tropical climate. This tea is picked in late summer (second flush).
This Sikkim tea has been given the rating TGFOP1, which is an abbreviation of 'Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe - grade # 1'. This means that the highest quality tea leaves are used for this tea.
The global tea industry uses its own system to determine the quality of tea. In general, the younger and smaller the tea leaves, the better the quality.
