What Does Decaffeinated Ceylon Tea Taste Like?

Our decaffeinated Ceylon tea offers a rich and full taste, without bitterness. The subtle freshness is combined with a hint of spiciness, giving the tea a pleasant, balanced taste.

The absence of caffeine does not affect the quality and intensity of the taste, so you can enjoy this delicious tea without any worries.

How strong is Decaffeinated Ceylon Tea?

Caffeine-free Ceylon tea has a mild taste and does not become bitter if you let it steep for too long.

To achieve the best taste, we recommend using 2 grams of tea per cup and steeping the tea in water at 95-100 °C for 3 to 5 minutes.

This way you get the optimal taste from the tea leaves without creating a too strong taste.

Decaffeinated Ceylon Tea

The caffeine-free Ceylon tea from Het Kleinste Huis is a high-quality black tea from Sri Lanka, where the caffeine has been carefully removed without affecting the authentic taste and aromas. This special tea offers a harmonious balance between sweet, spicy and fresh, resulting in a refreshing and soothing taste experience.

The production of decaffeinated tea starts with the normal tea leaves, which are picked from the tea plantations in Sri Lanka. To remove caffeine from the tea leaves, a specially developed decaffeination process is used. One of the most common methods of removing caffeine from tea is the CO2 process. This process uses high pressure and temperature to bring carbon dioxide to a supercritical state.

A supercritical state is a unique physical state that a substance is in when its temperature and pressure exceed critical values, giving it the properties of both a liquid and a gas. In the case of the CO2 process, the supercritical state of carbon dioxide makes it an excellent solvent to extract the caffeine from the tea leaves without affecting the natural taste and aromas.

After the caffeine has been removed in this environmentally friendly and efficient way, the tea leaves are carefully dried and packaged. This guarantees that the quality and taste of the decaffeinated Ceylon tea are preserved, so that you can enjoy a delicious cup of tea without caffeine, but with the same authentic taste experience as regular Ceylon tea.
