Liquorice is made from the root juice of the Liquorice plant. Although the Dutch are biggest producers and eaters of liquorice in Europe, it is not a Dutch invention. This honor goes to the Italian Giorgio Amarelli, who in 1731, managed to process the carrot juice into liquorice. The Dutch eat about 2 kilos (4.4 lbs) of liquorice per year.
Our liquorice tea is based in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The British began to grow tea on a large scale in the 19th century. Ceylon tea has a refreshing aroma with a hint of citrus. Ceylon tea is often used in blends.
Pay attention! Contains liquorice. Avoid excessive use in combination with high blood pressure.
